How We Met
Robyn was spending the summer in Austin, Texas working at her friend Travis’s ebay business. She had been there for about two months and was getting ready to head back to California in a few days. The tour de France had just ended and Lance Armstrong had won again. The city of Austin was throwing a huge party to celebrate the win so Robyn and her friends Melissa and Travis headed downtown to participate in the festivities.
Meanwhile, Craig had been accepted to the University of Texas and was preparing to start
the fall semester. He had just moved in to his apartment and met his new neighbors Jay and Ed.
The guys persuaded Craig to go downtown with them to party. Jay and Ed, who are good friends
with Travis, brought Craig to meet up with Travis in a bar called the Gingerbread Man.
At the Gingerbread Man, Craig noticed Robyn from across the way. According to Craig, he was most attracted to her "distinctive" nose. The next day, Craig asked Travis about Robyn. Luckily, Robyn was able to extend her stay in Austin and the rest is history.
The Proposal
Craig had been working in New Jersey for a couple of months and Robyn planned to fly out for the weekend and visit him. Craig surprised Robyn with tickets to a Broadway play so they planned a fun day roaming around New York. Craig had been working extra long hours and weekends so Robyn was excited to have a vacation together.
The first stop on the New York tour was a carriage ride around Central Park. After the ride, the couple decided to walk around the rest of park. Craig had mapped out a path based on the suggestions of some of his work colleagues. After a few stops, Craig insisted that the Bow Bridge was the most romantic place in the park and that he and Robyn must go there.
At the Bow Bridge, the couple spent some time looking around at the beauty of the area.
In the middle of the bridge, the couple paused to get a better view. Craig was fidgeting
with his coat but Robyn didn't really notice because she was busy staring at another couple.
As Craig reached for the ring, Robyn began nudging him to look over at the guy who had just
dropped to one knee to propose to his sweetheart.
Grudgingly, Craig suggested they move on to another spot in the park. After some rambling around the woods, Craig led Robyn back near the bridge to a gazebo. In the gazebo, Craig dropped to his knee and presented her a ring box. Robyn was so stunned at the fact that not only Craig was proposing (he had always stressed his ten year plan) but also that he had managed to get a ring without her knowledge. She was in such shock that she hardly knows what he said only that her answer was yes!
It turned out that during those long hours "at work" Craig was really spending time designing Robyn’s ring.
